OCR

Hiya

Think I mentioned this a while ago, but would be a great addition to Imaging automation, to be able to capture text from a bitmap. Is there any plan to add that ?
(I did try to use Google Tesseract but its pretty awful)

Thanks

Hi,

sorry to bring up this old toppic...

We have to automate tests for a mobile device and found RealMobile from Conflair.
They normally work with other automation tools (not Ranorex) because of the missing OCR.
For this I want to know if it is on your roadmap and if yes, are there any plany when it will be available?

Thank you!

Hi,
No problem!
We are sorry but OCR is not on our roadmap, but we are researching in the field of mobile testing and if we will support testing for mobile devices it will be based on our existing solution and probably at first for Android mobile devices.

Hi Markus,
Please add us to the list of potential users that require OCR.

I just downloaded the Ranorex Trial. I love what I see so far, but OCR is a requirement for us. We are looking for a new tool to replace TestPartner, which we have used for almost 10 years now. Our AUT is moving to .NET GUIs, but we still have hundreds of legacy windows in a cross platform GUI library (http://www.presenter5.com/) that test automation tools only see as a painted bitmap. So OCR/CaptureText we need the ability to capture the text at a given rectangle.

Give me a shout if this capability is added to your roadmap.

Thanks,
Chris Minerva

Hi,

It don't belong to the topic of OCR directly, but I read something about legacy applications in the last post.
Do you know our GDI plugin - maybe that will help with legacy applications.
