Agent & Real-time protection

Hi,

when running test on Agent (Windows 10 VM) noticed that windows antivirus protection takes ~100%CPU when starting the test.

If I disable Real-time protection, problem is gone.

There is said that "You can turn it off for a short time...before it turns back on automatically"

Can I add all Ranorex stuff to exclusions "Add or remove items that you want to exclude from Windows Defender Antivirus scans" or what is the best practice? Can I disable this anti-virus totally?

Hi,

I guess there is no best practice.

I would just try it out.

1. Adding Ranorex (and all related files, e.g. test executables, related folders) to the exlusion list
2. Disabling real-time protection if step 1 does not help
Can I disable this anti-virus totally?
I'm pretty sure you can, but I would clarify that with your internal IT

Cheers,
Robin

Hi RobinHood42,

I tried to do this:

1. Adding Ranorex (and all related files, e.g. test executables, related folders) to the exlusion list

...but it did not help. I quess I must have forget to add something there.

Is there a check list what is needed to be added to this exclusion list?

Hi,

I would add the complete installation folder (including all sub-folders and files) and your complete Ranorex solution folder (including all sub-folders and files). If this doesn't help, you will have to disable the real-time protection.

Cheers,
Robin
