Hello Ranorex Support,

The use case we are trying to test runs as follows.

Our users generate tables of engineering data in our program, then use a command in our program to create images of those tables for the users to copy into their reports. These reports are created with a text editor such as MS Word.

So what we would like to do is to be able to compare a table generated in our program (or an image of it) with an image of same as it appears in the Word document.

Can we use the Ranorex Snapshot function for this?

Thanks very much,

Hi,

Ranorex snapshots are useless in case of comparing images. So if your users capture images of tables and paste such images to Word, snapshots are useless. I'm afraid, the only option in such case, would be image validation? But even image validation is mostly useless for such complicated thing like image of table. Tables should be validated as tables, not as images. So I would suggest to perform table validation (using ref. snapshot) before storing table image to word.
