How to get whole report from Ranorex Agent

Hi,
i use two VM-machines to test our software.
Ranorex Studio is on the 1. VM, to develop Tests. On the 2. VM is just Ranorex Agen installed to execute tests.
It all works fine but, on Ranorex Agent in "Show files…" i got only report.rxlog and no video.
The copmlete Report is in "\AppData\Local\Temp\Ranorex"
The settings of Ranorex Studio "Report file directory" is ignored.

I need the whole report on my 1. VM, how can i do this?
I copy the whole "\Temp\Ranorex" - is there a better solution?

Hello Johann,

Basically, no video is crated at all or it is not available int he Ranorex report? I have seen a similar issue in the past because we were using an outdated custom report template. Are you using a custom report template?

Have you also tried to add the command line flags for video recording? For example: "/vr|videorecording:KeepAllTests"

These are described here: Command line execution

Hello McTurtle,

when I start the test locally, I have the *.rxlog report, PDF and the video.
But when I use the Ranorex agent, the log is saved under Windows / Temp. And only *.rxlog is saved
So far I have to copy the entire temp folder after each test, but overnight it grows up to 200 GB of data.
In Ranorex Agent mask under "Show files..." only *.rxlog is saved.
Yesterday I tried this command line argument /vr:KeepAllTests, unfortunately no success.

Hello Johann,

Just to make sure, it is indeed only 1 file? The .rxlog?
Are you sure it is not the .rxzlog (with z for zipped)? Because, that would be an archive holding the files. It is normally deployed back to the computer that kicked off the test in zipped form, not multiple files like you see when executing locally. The zipped report should be in "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\RanorexDownloads".

Are there links to pdf and videos in the report if you un-zip the archive?

Also, what is not clear is why your reports would be in Windows/temp. The folder for the runtime creation of the reports on the remote machine is "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\Ranorex\<randomID>".

Another mystery is the 200 GB of data. This is not just the report, is it?
From my estimation... 12 hours of video recording overnight should not exceed a few GB, 200 GB is too much.

McTurtle

Thanks McTurtle,

You helped me a lot.
In Ranorex Studio under Remote all tests are listed. And you can change to the Temp folder.
I got 200 GB because I copied too much, my recorded video quality was too high and my error behaviour on failed tests was wrong.
I started the test even if it couldn't run, and that produced a lot of "useless" data.
