From Ranorex 1.4 feature list:

Calling methods or setting/getting custom properties of controls in the tested application
Problems with automating 3rd party controls? The new version of Ranorex allows you to extend your .NET application with properties and methods and call them from your test code.

Is there any documentation on this?
