Hi,

I am getting the attached error while running the test from Ranorex studio. However if I run the compiled exe from Bin/Debug folder then it runs fine.

Please see the attached screen shot.

I am able to run other programs exe from my machine.

Please do a clean re-install of Ranorex.

1. Uninstall Ranorex.
2. Reboot the system.
3. Re-install Ranorex from the executable download here


Also, in the future, please include the following information:
1. Ranorex version you are using.
2. Windows version
3. Error messages that are displayed, if any.

Finally, did you make any changes to the Program.cs file in the project?

I performed the steps mention by you but still no luck. And still getting the same error which I have attached in my second post. Here are the other details required:

1) Ranorex Version - 5.2.1
2) Windows Version - Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3

Also I am using the trial version as of now. Can the error be because that I am using a trial version?

Strange thing is that I get the error while running the exe from Studio but when I run it directly from BIN/DDEBUG folder then it runs fine.

The trial version is exactly the same as the release version, the license is just different, so, no, it isn't because it's a trial version.


Also, could you answer my last question: Did you make any changes to the Program.cs file in the project?

Hello Support Team,

I applied the hot fix and restarted the machine. But tough luck, the issue still exists.

I have not made any changes to PROGRAM.CS.

Please advise?

Unfortunately we are not able to reproduce this issue on our side.

Please let me know if the error also appears when you your test without debugger?

Hello,

Do you happen to have an anti virus on your computer? Can you try disabling it before running your test see if it helps?

Error "Oxc0000142" usually means that a DLL is incompatible or there's a conflicting software that stops yours from running correctly. It usually is the anti virus.

I think you are right, I do have an anti virus.

However cannot disable the anti virus due to security policies.

Also the AppInit DLL is set to one of the Anti Virus DLL in registry. But cannot touch that.

Have you already tried running your test without debugger? Please let me know if the error occurs also when running without debugger.

Hi Markus,

I tried without debugger today and it worked absolutely fine.
Interestingly after running once without debugger, normal run was also fine until I added a break point.

Hi everybody,

It seems that we have found a possible solution for this problem.
Please try to delete all files within the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch" and disable the prefetch mechanism as described here: How to Disable the Prefetcher Component in Windows XP.
This usually solves the problem.
If that does not solve the problem a required DLL is missing.
Please try to run repair install on the C++ runtimes, Ranorex, .NET and Windows XP operating system.
