FireFox Plugin Converting Accented Characters

Hi,

I am using Ranorex 6.2.1 and when using the spy to view strings with accented characters in Firefox 51.0.1,
I can see that Ranorex is converting those accented characters (Sergio AGÜERO becomes Sergio AGÃERO). When I view the same string in Chrome with the spy the characters are not converted.

Is there a workaround for this and/or will this be addressed in the next release?

Cheers,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce your issue. May I ask you to try if this also happens when tracking special characters in another website? (e.g. http://www.google.com)
If you send me the URL to your webpage, I would be able to take a deeper look into it.

Best regards,
asdf

HI

I was able to replicate the issue on the following wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Aguero tracking the page title (I couldn't post the link as a URL as Ranroex blocked me).

Regards,

Adrian

EDIT: OK, I hadn't updated Firefox in a while, so editing to reflect FF 51.0.1.

It appears that the Caption is fine, so as a workaround you can use that, but the Page and Page URL values are misreading the "%C3%BC" as two HTML decodes instead of the unicode decode it should be. This does appear to be a bug in RANOREX.

The Chrome version is correct.

Hi guys,

This issue has been fixed in the Firefox extension. In order to make it work, manually update the Ranorex Automation NG if the automatic updates for add-ons are disabled. After the update the plugin should have the version 1.0.8.

I hope this information will help you.
