Ranorex 7.0.1 not recognising elements in Chrome

I am using:
Windows 10 64 bit
Ranorex 7.0.1
Chrome Version 60.0.3112.101 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I can record a simple web script against Chrome, and play it back successfully if I start the script with Chrome closed.
However, if Chrome is open already when I start the test, then Ranorex correctly opens a new tab in Chrome with the correct URL, but then will not recognise any elements on the web page and errors.
So unless I start my tests with Chrome closed, they do not run.
