I just started Ranorex 2.3.4.9270
The Splash screen appears and afterwards the following Error Message.
I hit OK and it started normally, as far as I can tell...

I don't know something special I have done last session, the PC (Win 7 Pro, 32bit) was rebooted before starting Ranorex. Oh well, I tried the "Use blue style (Office 2003-like) for menus and toolbars." setting just for fun

I closed Ranorex, started it again and the Error Message was gone.
Also I cannot say that my settings have been restored, at least the "Tools > Options" still take care of my personal settings.

Thanks for posting the bug. Please try to remove the profile data of Ranorex Studio. Therefore please go to following folder "%AppData%" and delete the Ranorex2.3 folder. Then try to start the Studio again. If it's also not working after the steps above. Please try to repair the Ranorex installation by executing the installer from "Add or Remove Programs".

I removed the profile data (in %AppData%), I've not seen the error anymore.
Will post again if I see it again, thanks for the shot!
