Studio's Spy 'Track' button not working

Hi,

I'm experiencing a bug on 'Track' button from Ranorex Sudio Spy. When I want to edit an item's path using 'track' feature, the spy window is minimized but the mouse cursor freezes just where the button was on the screen.
>> Windows 7 Pro 64-bit + Service Pack 1
>> Ranorex Studio 5.4.2

In my case this bug could be reproduced only when compatibility option 'Run this program as an administrator' is checked (I had it checked until 5.4.2 and everything worked just fine).
Also, when opening the stand-alone Spy everything it's working as intended.

Meanwhile, I have to open Studio with that option disabled it and use right-click>run as administrator instead.

Kind regards,

Hi Lucian,

Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce this behavior on my Windows 7 machine.

May I ask you if you could provide additional information about your system (hardware, display, etc)
Please also enable the internal logging mechanism by performing these steps
  • Rename the attached NLog.txt into NLog.config
  • Copy the renamed file into C:\Program Files (x86)\Ranorex 5.4\RanorexStudio\bin
  • After reproducing this problem, the generated Log file will be located in C:\Temp
Please either upload this Log here or send it to [email protected]

Thank you.

Regards,
Markus (S)

Hi Markus,

Although I've reproduced this issue several times before posting, now I cannot catch it anymore.
As soon as I experience it again, I will provide further details, including logs.

Thanks for understanding,
Lucian

Hi all,

Even if this issue seems to occur on very small occasions, it might sometimes bother someone else too. Therefore I would like to share the workaround provided by Ranorex Support Team:

· Open the Properties Dialog of your Ranorex shortcut and select the “Advanced” Dialog

Image

· Within this dialog, enable “Run as administrator” checkbox

Image

· Please also ensure that the other “Run as administrator” option under “Compatibility” tab is disabled

Kind regards,
