Support for Firefox 40 was added in Ranorex 5.4.1.
More detailed information can be found in the Release Notes.

I'm afraid I'm not exactly sure what's the current issue?
May I ask to give more detailed information about the crash? It would be great if you could upload a log file or a screenshot, which illustrates the issue.

Firefox failed to close and plugin crash.

It would be great if you could enable the flash trace log.
The log file will be created at the following location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\Logs

Please send this log file to [email protected].
