Dear all,

i've tried installing the Ranorex add-on on Firefox 47 by running the wizard but for some reason i can't be activated.

Looking in the forum i saw that you could manually install it by drag and dropping an xpi from the C:\Program Files (x86)\Ranorex 5.4\Bin folder.

But i have no XPI in this Folder.

I only have two files about Firefox :

Ranorex.Plugin.MozillaWeb.dll
Ranorex.Plugin.MozillaWeb.xml

i've tried drag and dropping them in about:config in firefox and i get a message saying that the file is corrupted.

My version of Ranorex is 5.4.

Any ideas ?

I believe that Firefox 47 is not supported by Ranorex 5.4

I downgraded my firefox to 40.0.3 and repeted both operations (wizard and manual install).

I get the same response than before.

Do i have to use an older version of firefox ?

I, myself, would try some derived version of Firefox 39. But the release notes related to supported Firefox versions vary from lower to higher in different releases around the Ranorex 5.4 version so it's quite hard to understand them exactly.

Try to downgrade to 39 and see if it fixes the issue.

But related to testing it's always a good idea to have the latest versions of common browsers as in todays world the updates are automatic to most of the users anyway. There shouldn't be any issues with Firefox plugins with Ranorex 6 and above.

(Release notes for Ranorex 5.4.0 state that it had support added to Firefox 39)

I agree that testing should be done with the latest versions of browsers (of course ^^).

So what are you suggesting ? Should i downgrade to firefox 39 or upgrade Ranorex to version 6 and try with firefox 47 ?

If it's possible and you have an active license then all means do the upgrade.

Another thing to think of regarding this upgrade (from 5.4 to 6.0.2) is that the projects will be upgraded as well. So remember to back up everything.

For me the upgrade went smoothly and I had no issues

Oh so Ranorex 6 works with Firefox 47 ?

Yeah. Works currently with the latest one as well which is 48.0.2
