Image editor

The image editor is a Studio built-in image editor with simple, but necessary functionality to edit, change and refine images tracked, stored and managed within the test cases. This chapter is to introduce and explain the functionality of this simple tool.

    Opening the image editor

    The Ranorex image editor cannot be started from within a menu but is started automatically when an image is to be changed, modified, or edited.

    Click the start button to open the image editor
    See the image editor open with the selected image in its working environment

    Image editor functions

    Although the image editor is very simple, and its functionality is limited, the functions are explained herein.

    Image editor functions

    Rectangular (sub-)image selection: Drag a selection rectangle for choosing the part of the image you want to search for
    Autoselect image find region: click an area to auto-select a viable region
    Zoom in/out: zooming in and out and resetting zoom to 100%
    Crop function: crops the image to the selection

    Note

    A single image may be used for several validations. Therefore, be careful with cropping an image because you may lose important validation information.

    New screenshot: Sometimes it is necessary to (re-)new the screenshot and replace the current image by a new one to be taken as new screenshot. This functionality is activated by clicking the corresponding icon.

    Open image from file: Click to add a new screenshot from an image file for the associated repository item
