Introduction | Ranorex

Variables & parameter

A variable – simplified – can be described as a placeholder for a value which can change during a running process. In Ranorex Studio a variable usually is used to enable multiple iterations of test runs with changing test data. Variables also allow generic and individual test validation.

Parameters are primarily used to control the course of actions within a test scenario. Parameters – in Ranorex – are also used to enable the passing of variable values through module boundaries and across test cases.

Both concepts are fundamental for the understanding of automated testing with Ranorex Studio.
