Regular expressions

A regular expression, regex or regexp (sometimes called a rational expression) is, in theoretical computer science and formal language theory, a sequence of characters that defines a search pattern. Usually, this pattern is then used by string searching algorithms in computer software for “find”, or “find and replace” operations on strings. Ranorex also uses this syntax expressions for matching RanoreXPath definitions. The basic concept of regular expressions with focus on the application within Ranorex is explained herein.
