Ranorex Webtestit overview

Ranorex Webtestit features a tabbed user interface that adapts dynamically according to the currently active files in your project. All functions are arranged in tabs that automatically activate depending on the type of file you’re editing. We’ve created an overview to help you find your way.

You can arrange the position and size of all tabs freely within the application by dragging their labels with the mouse. To reset the default layout, follow this how-to.

Working with files in your project

The Ranorex Webtestit code editor can open and display any text-based file within your project. To edit a file, just click on it within the Project tab. Most of the time you will work with one of three specialized file types that make the UI adapt to support your workflow in the best way possible.

    Page Object File

Clicking on a Page Object file will cause Ranorex Webtestit to parse its contents and display them in the Page Object and Elements tabs. Instead of having to code the selectors of your website or app, you can import them through the Ranorex Selocity plugin for Google Chrome. You can then focus on coding your Page Object actions instead.

    Test File

If you click on a test file within your project, the UI will switch into execution mode. The Execution and Log tabs are brought into view, displaying your configured Endpoints.

    Report File

If you select an XML file from within your project’s reports folder, the file’s contents will be parsed and displayed in a clear and open summary table within the Report tab.
